Tis the Season!

Tis the season to decorate! If it were up to me, my house would look like something out of the North Pole. I absolutely love Christmas, so I enjoy surrounding myself with beautiful decorations this time of year. After having children, I had to scale back a bit and find things that were childproof (aka indestructible). I have also found that I get more enjoyment now out of the excitement on their faces, so I look for things that appeal to not only me, but them as well. Pillows are a great way to add some whimsy. I love to mix up the pillow patterns and add some great throws for a nice “homey” feel.

And because it’s the season of Christmas, you can never have too much sparkle right? Tis the season for anything that shimmers or shines!

Holiday decorations don’t have to cost a lot of money if you know where to look. Thrift stores and craft stores often have great choices. And if you are patient enough, you might even find a great sale at a department store. Here are some great finds from local thrift stores and my personal favorite, Hobby Lobby!

I have also found that adding a little string of holiday lights can brighten up almost anything. Last year, I stumbled upon some small strands of battery powered lights at the local Dollar General that work great on shelves and inside of a vase! They come in white and multi-colored, and the battery life is great! They really bring a warm glow at night! And you’ll also notice a pillar candle here that is also battery powered! You can find these on Amazon. They turn on and off by themselves and look very realistic (but are much safer than real)!

Put it all together and you can create a very welcoming space that everyone will enjoy this season.

I love to sit down at the end of a long day in the glow of the Christmas lights. There’s just something about a warmly decorated space that makes me feel jolly! Tis the season for whatever it is that makes you and your family feel that holiday spirit.  Happy decorating!
