My name is Andrea and I am the mother of two beautiful (and quite active) children. I also homeschool my oldest and tutor English on the side through a great company that you can check out on my Vipkid page. It is a lot to juggle sometimes!
I have a wonderful, supportive husband of thirteen years. His favorite question has always been, “What’s for dinner?” When we first married the answer was often some form of hamburger helper. Haven’t we all been there? What a good sport my husband was!
Over the years I discovered how much I love to cook and try new recipes! Oh how I love to eat! But then came children. Suddenly I just didn’t have time to cook the elaborate, from scratch recipes. Oh what to do? Rather than go back to the boxed dinners I decided to try my hand at adapting recipes to fit my busy schedule. I am excited to say that I have had many successes (and failures of course)! Along the way I have grown to equally enjoy finding ways to make my home more relaxing. With so many ideas out there to choose from, I hope to make it a little easier for you by showing what has worked for my family and what hasn’t. So let’s get started!
What’s Christmas without a cute snowman craft? This one is not only cute, but this basic shape snowman helps to reinforce shape recognition and basic cutting skills. Supplies: Light or dark blue construction paper (background) White construction paper (snowman) Black construction paper (hat) Brown construction paper for arms Construction paper for scarf (any color) Assorted […]
I don’t know too many people who don’t love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter. Peanut butter is one of the most loved ingredients in my home and a staple in many Christmas cookie recipes. If you are one of the many who love chocolate and peanut butter, then you are sure to love […]
I love the combination of salty and sweet in a dessert. This White Chocolate Cranberry crack provides just that. It has a the sweetness of white chocolate, combined with the saltiness of the crackers and nuts. It reminds me of one of my favorite sugar cookie recipes. This recipe is very simple to make and […]
I love the smell of cookies baking in the oven this time of year. Even more so, I love the warm smells of cinnamon and gingerbread filling the house. Traditional 7 layer or magic cookie bars combine chocolate, butterscotch, walnuts and coconut atop a graham cracker crust. To mix things up a bit, I decided […]
We love tacos in our house, especially soft ones! What I love most about them is that you can fill them with just about any combination of meat and veggies, and can adjust the spice level to suit everyone’s taste buds. I personally enjoy a lot of spice, but the kids….not so much. For these […]
I just recently discovered that hot glue doesn’t only come in white, but just about any color you can imagine! But what good is something that you barely even see? I have always used hot glue as nothing more than a binder until I discovered another, more creative way to use it. If your kids […]
Tis the season to decorate! If it were up to me, my house would look like something out of the North Pole. I absolutely love Christmas, so I enjoy surrounding myself with beautiful decorations this time of year. After having children, I had to scale back a bit and find things that were childproof (aka […]
I love to make holiday crafts with the kids. My criteria when choosing a good craft is that it needs to not only be fun, but easy to do. You won’t believe how easy it is to make these watercolor Christmas ornaments! We have recently begun experimenting with oil pastels in our crafts and have […]
Its that time of year again, and if your children are like mine they enjoy a good Christmas story. There are so many wonderful children’s books out there to choose from. So many, in fact, that I could probably read a different one each night! But I find that every year we still pull out […]
Meatloaf has a bad reputation for being overly dry. I have tried many meatloaf recipes over the years and I have to say that this is the one! This stuffed meatloaf is one of the only meat dishes that my children actually approve of. You are going to love how moist and cheesy this meatloaf […]
