Million Dollar Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage
  • 2 24 oz jars spaghetti sauce
  • 1 16 oz box lasagna noodles
  • 1 15 oz tub ricotta cheese
  • 1 16 oz tub small curd cottage cheese
  • 1 8 oz block cream cheese softened
  • 2 c shredded cheddar
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp minced garlic

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook pasta according to package directions.

Meat Sauce

  • While pasta cooks; Heat a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • Drizzle with olive oil and add ground meats. Cook, breaking apart large chunks, until browned and cooked through.
  • Drain and return to pan.
  • Add pasta sauce and seasonings and bring to a simmer. Cover and allow to simmer (10-15 minutes).

Cheese Mixture

  • In a medium sized bowl, combine cream cheese, ricotta, cottage cheese and egg. Set aside.

Assemble

  • Drain noodles and rinse quickly under cool water to make them easier to handle.
  • Begin by adding a thin layer of meat sauce to a 9x13 pan. Then add a layer of noodles, cheese mixture, shredded cheese and sauce. Repeat layers, ending with shredded cheese on top.
  • Bake for 30 to 45 minutes or until cheese has melted and the lasagna is hot and bubbling around the sides.
  • Remove and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes before cutting and serving.
